The Most Stable Stand-Up Paddle Board You’ll Ever Find!
I tested out this inflatable SUP and I must say that Bluefin—one of the most popular UK-based SUP companies—has done it again. They have designed the MOST STABLE stand-up paddle board I have ever tried!
The Bluefin SUP Voyage was voted the best paddle board in 2018 and is still an awesome alternative paddle board choice for different SUP activities. It’s extremely durable, gives great balance, and even comes with a very versatile cooler box and fishing rod holders (which I think are pretty cool, btw!).
I had tons of fun trying the Voyage so if you’re interested to learn more about it, stick around till the end of this review! We’ll talk about my experience testing it out, including my in-depth review of the board’s pros and cons, specs, inclusions, unique characteristics and more.
Let’s get started, shall we? 😆
Most suitable for:
If you’re an active SUP enthusiast like me who enjoys trying out fun activities on your board like SUP fishing, relaxing, or exercising, the Bluefin SUP Voyage might be the perfect paddle board for you.
- Very stable and rigid
- Offers great versatility
- Great online reviews
- Comes with a cooler box
- Includes two fishing rod holders
- Offers a ton of space with a width of 38”
- Comes with an action camera mount
- Provides great balance
- Complete SUP package
- Voyage’s cooler box is extremely heavy
- Not suitable for touring
- Not suitable for advanced paddlers
- Not suitable for long distances
Now let’s take a closer look at the Bluefin SUP Voyage’s specifications so you can decide for yourself if this is the kind of paddle board you are looking for.
Yoga and other Fitness Activities
Speed on the Water
Not it’s primary feature and can be quite slow
It is very easy to transport this SUP because you can transport it deflated and it has a backpack for all its accessories
The Bluefin SUP Voyage is a stable board on the water and the weight capacity of 353 lbs. and is wide and spacious
Like what I’ve been saying at the start of this blog, the Bluefin SUP Voyage is a multi-use paddle board. You can use the Voyage in a lot of different SUP activities since it’s designed to be the ultimate stable stand-up paddle board. The Bluefin SUP Voyage can be used as an all-around paddle board since it’s light and durable as well. But it can also be used for relaxing, fishing, exercising (like SUP Yoga), and SUP kayaking! The possibilities are endless with this steady-as-a-rock board with tons of space and accessories included.
Speed on the Water
The Bluefin SUP Voyage provides a decent speed in the water for SUP fishing, relaxing, or ocean paddle boarding. But since it’s not suitable for long distances, it cannot be used as a speedy paddle board for racing. However, because of this SUP’s sturdy nature, the Voyage runs smoothly in a straight line. This allows for a safe and stable paddling experience.
Even though the inflatable paddle board that the Bluefin SUP Voyage comes with only weighs around 37 lbs. or 17 kg, I don’t recommend traveling far with it. This is because the cooler box that’s included weighs 30 kg so going on your bike with it is quite impossible. Let alone traveling the world with it! I recommend using a car if you plan on bringing the kit so you can park as close to the water as possible for easy transport.
I know I already mentioned this a thousand times already, but the cool thing about the Bluefin SUP Voyage is the extreme stability that it gives. It’s intentionally designed to be sturdy enough so you can use it for a lot of fun water-based activities. Of course, the width and the side rails of this board allows for a safer paddling experience. That being said, you can go as far as bringing your kid or your furry friend with you in the water.
My Own Experience
Like I’ve previously mentioned above, the Bluefin SUP Voyage was voted as the best stand up paddle board in 2018 and rightfully so! This paddle board that was released a few seasons before is affordable, high-quality, and very unique! It also has plenty of great online reviews and is almost always out of stock when you look it up on different sites so I guess that says something about the quality of the product. Now let’s discuss more about the specs!
First, the Voyage has a length of 10’10” and a width of 38”, making it 20% wider than the normal paddle board you can find in the market today. Because of the bigger board space, balancing this SUP is only a piece of cake. And since it’s a very wide paddle board, bringing the included cooler box with you in the water will not be a problem.
Yup, that’s right, the other thing that makes the Bluefin SUP Voyage one-of-a-kind is that it comes with a good quality attachable cooler box. It’s a great option for those of you who like to sip cool drinks while relaxing on your board on a warm summer day like me! But since this SUP has two fishing rod holders, you can definitely use the cooler for your bait or catches when you go SUP fishing. And you can sit on its built-in folding seat too!
On top of that, this paddle board offers incredible stability I have never seen in any SUP from Bluefin before. Did you know that the Bluefin SUP Voyage is designed with additional side rails or “wings” for the ultimate paddle board stability in the water? Pretty cool, right?
When I received the Bluefin SUP Voyage package, the first thing I noticed was that it’s quite heavy—which I thought was probably caused by the extra 30 kg weight of the complete cooler box. Or maybe it’s also because of the amount of accessories included in the package. I mean, I’m not complaining. These accessories definitely add something to the unique Voyager experience.
For the price of $699, the inflatable paddle board package comes with a carry backpack, dual-action hand pump, adjustable 3-piece paddle, coiled SUP leash, phone cover, two fishing rod holders, emergency repair kit, center fin, action camera thread hole, and kayak seat. As you can see, the kit provided me with the complete set of necessary accessories to help me enjoy the water better when I tested out this product.
A Universally Loved Activity Stand Up Paddle Board
The Bluefin SUP Voyage is a one-of-a-kind stand up paddle board that is highly recommended by different paddle boarding enthusiasts around the world–including me, of course! I mean, if you take a look at the ratings of the Bluefin SUP Voyage, you’ll see that it is universally loved, whether it’s being used in SUP yoga, SUP fishing, SUP kayaking, ocean paddle boarding, river running, and a lot more.
This paddle board brings a lot of joy to different types of people. For families, they use it to enjoy time in the water by accompanying their kids with the spacious design of the Voyage. Others take advantage of the board’s wide base and use it to paddle around in their favorite spot with their dog companions. Not to mention the number of accessories that lets you transform the paddle board into a kayak or a fishing vessel.
On the other hand, paddling enthusiasts who are into SUP fitness are also able to use the Voyage with various types of water-based exercises. Nothing wrong with working on your core to get that rock hard abs while enjoying your time on your steady-as-a-rock paddle board, am I right? (Lol!)
Personally, I think the Voyage is something Bluefin has never done before. Sure, they gave us the Bluefin Aura Fit specialized for SUP yoga and fitness activities, but in my opinion, the additional wings in the design of the Bluefin SUP Voyage is a much better approach to achieve an extremely stable and versatile paddle board.
Now since I’m not really into Yoga that much (please don’t hate me), I wasn’t able to fully use it as a SUP yoga board, but it was very stable board overall so I would assume that it gives the same result to professional SUP fitness enthusiasts.
In my own experience trying out the Bluefin SUP Voyage, I felt really safe with how it was performing as I glided through the water, which I definitely appreciated. Of course, the stable quality of the Voyage made that possible. It was a breeze balancing myself on the board while it ran smoothly in a straight line.
That being said, I’m curious to see what it would feel like on a warm summer day in my local lake, with a cool drink in my hand from my very own cooler box attached to my SUP. I’m definitely excited to try this paddle board even more… as soon as I find the perfect place to park near the water, of course (I can never find the perfect parking here in the Netherlands!).
In its entirety, the Bluefin SUP Voyage is a nicely designed board with its High-quality EXO Surface Laminate Technology or ESL for a UV-protected deck so your board can keep its quality for a long time. With the Bluefin’s signature bright blue color, it also pops out when it’s in the water.
The shape of the board is quite wide compared to my other paddle boards but for a good reason, since it’s specially made for exciting SUP activities that need extreme balance.
Now if we take a closer look at the design of the Bluefin SUP Voyage, you’ll see what I mean when I say that Bluefin has outdone themselves with this board’s unique elements that are made with intricate designs, all adding to the smooth and easy paddling experience this SUP has to offer.
- Designed with a one-of-a-kind tri-chamber inflation system
- 3-piece adjustable lightweight fiber-glass paddle
- The best reinforced composite drop stitch pattern with 11200 stitches of 500 denier yarn
- Comes with a fishing or cooler box with nice compartments
- Side rails for extra high-level stability
- Great quality center fin
- Made with an action camera mount thread hole for GoPros
- Bluefin double action hand pump
The Bluefin SUP Voyage comes with a nice center fin. The board is also designed with a Smart Lock Fin System so you can assure that there will be no loose metal parts in your paddle board. All you really have to do is to click the fin into place and it will be safe and secured. This is because it has an integrated fin box with a high quality locking mechanism.
The Bluefin SUP Voyage is made with an advanced military-grade, triple-layered PVC. The material of the SUP is made with a high pressure laminated finish, making it a very sturdy item. Aside from that, it also has a triple-chamber inflation system so you can enjoy a rigid and durable board. This high quality Sup is going nowhere.
Inflate / deflate
When you purchase the Bluefin SUP Voyage, you’ll receive a dual action hand pump you can inflate your paddle board with. The Voyage can hold up to 28 PSI but I recommend sticking to 15 to 18 PSI. Inflating this Sup was a breeze as well because of the great hand pump. On the other hand, deflating the board was pretty easy as well and I haven’t encountered any problems yet. Additionally, the inflating instructions say to inflate between 15 to 18 PSI, then the compartments up to 3 PSI.
Of course, just like with any other Bluefin paddle boards, the Bluefin SUP Voyage has an incredible warranty. The normal SUP warranty is just around 1 to 3 years. But for this particular product, Bluefin provides a 5-year warranty. With this type of warranty, you can keep the quality of your paddle board longer.
The design in the Bluefin SUP Voyage is quite nice, with a very eye-pleasing Bluefin color. The center fin is slick, the bungee cord looks clean, and the deck pad looks really high-quality. I must say, the goal of the board’s design is to be the ultimate stable SUP and Bluefin was able to do that with a wide-based paddle boarding with additional side rails. And even though it is quite wide, it doesn’t look as chunky as the Bluefin Aura Fit board which I appreciate.
In the package
Like I’ve previously mentioned, when you receive the Bluefin SUP Voyage package, you’ll get a ton of great accessories that can enhance the quality of your paddling experience. Let’s take a look at each one together so you can decide whether or not this paddle boarding kit is for you. Below is a list of each inclusion with a short description and my review on all of them:
The paddle included in the package is a normal, adjustable 3-piece paddle. Its shaft is made of a lightweight fiberglass material which makes it easy to use in the water. The blade is made with polyurethane and is considered 45% lighter than the usual SUP paddles manufactured with aluminum materials.
Personally, I think the paddle works great, although not as awesome as the Bluefin carbon fiber one which felt like I was using a premium type of paddle. The paddle that the Bluefin SUP Voyage comes with is a nice, basic paddle, especially for those of you who are just starting out.
Moving on to the dual action hand pump, I think the design on this one is very efficient and well thought out. Aside from the pump’s sleek look, it also has a High Pressure PSI Gauge which is very helpful for someone inflating a paddle board by myself. I mean, it’s not as good as a digital one, but it still works just fine.
The overall feel of the pump is lightweight and you can put it in the backpack. It’s also easy to use with its ergonomic grip quality and it didn’t hurt my hands when I was using it. It took me only a couple meetings to inflate the Bluefin SUP Voyage and it didn’t feel like an extreme workout at all.
It also fits nicely with the cooler box included so that’s a plus!
I find it really interesting that a paddle board package can come with your very own cooler or fishing box. It’s also pretty cool that one box can be so versatile that you can also use it as a relaxing, comfortable chair because of its foldable backrest. I have never seen something like this before but I do think it makes a lot of sense, especially for angling enthusiasts out there.
Personally, I noticed that the box is quite heavy, with over 30 kg in weight, so I suggest you use a car every time you’re bringing it. I also appreciate that it comes with a cooler box instructions telling me how to attach the box to the board. Note: The feet of the cooler should first be covered with the blue caps. They can also be opened on both sides, left and right.
In my experience, attaching the box is a bit of a puzzle, but once I got the hang of it, it was no longer a problem.
Just like with any other Bluefin paddle boards, the Bluefin SUP Voyage contains a coiled leash you can wear on your ankle or your calf in the water. The leash is made with a neoprene material so the band is durable and comfortable at the same time.
Most leash made with a paddle board feels like an afterthought to some manufacturers, but this one feels really comfortable, making me think that it was specially designed with the experience of the paddler in mind, with dense coils keeping safe and secure in the board.
On top of that, the leash’s velcro rail-saver end is easily attachable to the SUP’s multiple D-rings.
Since the Bluefin SUP Voyage is an inflatable paddle board, we can’t forget about the backpack that it comes with. The bag is surprisingly spacious, with enough room for all the accessories included in the package, including the dual action hand pump (not the cooler box, though… but I’ll mention that later!). I mean, it even has handy outside pockets so I don’t think storage space will be a problem.
If you’re just taking the board and other essential accessories with you, I think this backpack is nice and durable enough to be used in traveling. It has wide, extra back strap padding so it actually feels comfortable to wear. Aside from that, it also has a reinforced zipper and can be used as a cargo holder on your board’s nose so it’s a great travel kit.
Fishing Rod Holders and Action Camera Mount
The fishing rod holders included in this set makes it easy for SUP fishing enthusiasts. It’s really cool how this package was made with a lot of different SUP activities in mind, especially angling!
Usually, people use kayaks or canoes to go fishing, but with a kit like this that offers a fishing box for bait and catches and fishing rod holders, it just makes sense! The two built-in fishing rods are convenient and easy to use. I’m curious to see how it will perform over time, but so far so good.
And of course, let’s not forget about the action camera mount. If you’re anything like me who likes to record my paddling journey, this GoPro attachment is a blessing! It’s also very durable so you don’t have to worry about losing your action camera into the water.
Of course, since the Bluefin SUP Voyage is very much suitable for SUP fishing, there is a kayak seat included in the package as well. Now there aren’t a lot of online reviews about the Bluefin SUP Voyage kayak seat at the moment so I’m not sure what other paddlers think about it yet.
But in my experience, I think the kayak seat has a decent quality, much like the other kayak seats included in other Bluefin paddle board kits. But if you don’t like the feel of the kayak seat that the kit comes with, you can always use the cooler box as a chair like my girlfriend here! Lol!

Difference between an Inflatable Board and a Hard Board
Advantages Inflatable board
- Easy to take on holiday (even on the plane)
- Easy to store in the winter days
- Much cheaper
- Technology has improved greatly over the past 10 years. For this reason, these boards are now almost hard to distinguish from hard boards
Advantages Hard Board
- More speed, which is important if you are a professional
- Easier to make sharp turns on the water because the board is thinner
- No inflation needed, you can get on the water right away
“Enjoyed using the Bluefin SUP Voyage with the kids. Highly recommend for it’s nice quality and complete accessories that could all fit inside the bag.
Alvin Dizer from Tech The Bit
“I have had a Voyage for about 18 months. I am a 67 year old kayaker and can honestly say that it is excellent. Its great for all kinds of water and, as a mountain leader, it is perfect for expeditions and camping.”
Ron, Review from inflatableboarder.com
“Wow we are so impressed with the stability, we done a lot of research and wanted a board to carry another person and the kids, and with two people felt really safe and did not topple off, the balance is great. Easy to inflate, going to have fun on this.
Liz, Review from Amazon
“This is a great SUP. Bought it for my husband who had never had one before. He loves it … great quality & feels very safe.”
